My sincere hope is to be able to shine my light and do some good in my lifetime, in whatever small little ways through my professional work and my existence.
In particular, I care much about Attachment and Trauma-informed care and it is a fundamental tenet of my work with my clients, regardless of the varied concerns they have.
Presently, I am practising as a Clinical Psychologist at Flourish Cove Psychology. I am also based at KK Women's and Children's hospital as a locum clinical psychologist and am also an adjunct psychology lecturer at Temasek Poly.
Training wise, I have been trained locally in Singapore (in psychology and counselling skills) and in Australia, Sydney at Macquarie University for my Clinical Psychology Masters program.
A little history (I'll try not to bore you!)
In 2004, I started my first career in mental health working at Institute of Mental Health with young adults (18yrs onwards) with first episode psychosis. I would say I jumped into the deep end as I had no clinical internship experience and was literally straight out of university! Through this, I experienced the profound impact of mental illness on the many young adults and their families. Not forgetting to mention, I also witnessed the depths of resilience, as they rebuilt their lives. It was truly an eye-opening and humbling experience.
Beyond that, I have gathered experience in other specialty areas mainly in public health settings, in Women's Mental Health (Perinatal and infant mental health), Child and Adolescent Psychology at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, and also across a broad range of adult mental health issues at Institute of Mental Health as well as private practice.
In Australia, I was mainly working with cllients with severe mental health issues, including a dual diagnosis unit (substance use and psychosis), and two other psychiatric hospitals. I was also practising as an intern at a specialist anxiety clinic for children, in an assessment and treatment role.
Because of this, I am super passionate about utilising my lived experience combined with professional experience to help people who have lived through trauma, break patterns of generational trauma, so we can all live freely, at ease, and be truly happy.
I am an ongoing work in progress.
I am imperfect.
I lose my cool.
I cry when I am sad or hurt.
I have done regretful things.
I have hurt more times than I can count.
I still suffer from imposter syndrome at times (more than I need to perhaps!).
I am more anxious than I will like to be when things are not working out according to plans.
I am a human, who's working on herself, even as she works with others, and that's OK.
We are interconnected this way, us humans.
